Tessa is a gentle soul who enjoys being petted and purrs readily. She sleeps on the bed with her foster dad and likes to follow him around, offering a running commentary on the events of the day. She is beginning to learn the pleasures of being cuddled, but currently prefers just to sit nearby and talk quietly. She keeps unfamiliar cats at a comfortable distance until she knows them better with just a stern growl that is quite effective.

Tessa was originally spotted at a "watch station" where food is put out regularly in a place that cats are often dumped. It was soon evident that she was friendly because she began talking to her feeder. Given that 70% of orange cats are male, she was originally called "Hunter" having been observed stalking prey through the grass. However, three kittens (Connor, Quinn and Stephanie) were spotted playing just outside a gardner's shed fairly near the watch station. When our team arrived to pick up the kittens, they wondered where "Mom" was. She eventually emerged under the shed door, where she apparently had given birth to her litter, to watch over playtime. Mom was "Hunter" and was re-christened Tessa!
